Ruckus Wireless WLAN Site Planner

Take the Guesswork Out of Planning a World Class Wireless LAN with a Smarter Wi-Fi RF Simulation Tool
Accurate network planning is one of most critical steps to successful Wi-Fi deployment, while poor planning leads to over-spending on infrastructure – resulting in spotty coverage and unhappy users.

ZonePlanner is ideal for designing and estimating Wi-Fi deployment headaches before the installation of any APs. With ZonePlanner, network managers can more easily and accurately plan, design, deploy and manage Ruckus Smart WLAN networks in any indoor environment.

ZonePlanner integrates directional, high-gain antenna patterns derived from BeamFlex, the Ruckus-patented and award-winning smart antenna array, and combines them with AirMagnet’s industry-leading planning tool.

Unlike other Wi-Fi APs on the market that use omni-directional dipole antennas to blindly radiate Wi-Fi energy in all directions, each Ruckus ZoneFlex AP integrates a high-gain directional smart antenna array that constantly focuses and directs Wi-Fi energy over the best performing signal paths to increase throughput and channel capacity while also significantly improving reliability and range.

By combining these state-of-the-art RF controls with powerful new planning tools, designing a world-class wireless LAN has never been easier.

By Mikael Ricknäs, IDG News    Nov 9, 2011

The number of public Wi-Fi hotspots is expected to increase by 350 percent in the next four years, as operators look for ways to offload traffic from their mobile networks, according to a report by market research company Informa Telecoms and Media.

By 2015 users around the world will be able to connect to 5.8 million public hotspots, Informa wrote in the “Global developments in public Wi-Fi” report, which was commissioned by Wireless Broadband Alliance. WBA members include AT&T, Boingo, Cisco Systems, Deutsche Telekom and Google. Its goal is to make Wi-Fi services easier to use.

Project: Wireless – 360 Residences

360 Residences Wireless Project

Conveniently located in downtown San Jose, the 360 Residences deemed it necessary to accommodate it technologically savvy clientele with wireless networking. SF WiFi was commissioned to design and install this new network for the impressive glass tower’s recreational and business areas.

Our designer recognized this network needed to

• Stable enough to support a high capacity of users
• Provide exceptional signal coverage throughout the building’s rooms and pool area
• and contain ease of use features.

These features are very important since the average person will use multiple wireless devices (mobile phones and computers) simultaneously. After installation our technicians measured the network’s stability and ensured it was seamless, reliable, and secure.

Soaring 23 story high rise above the SoFa district, the grand architecture and sweeping glass tower dramatically redefines the San Jose skyline.

Check out this link to a video of the property. The wireless network covers the pool, fitness and patio areas of the apartments. These areas can be seen starting at the one minute mark of the video. We were so impressed with the aerial shots and model rendering of the 23 story high rise that the SF WiFi marketing department thought we should share this with you. Enjoy.
